Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about renting a vehicle and exploring the roads of Meghalaya safely.

Booking & Requirements

Do I need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Meghalaya?

No. Indian citizens do not require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter or travel within Meghalaya. You only need a standard, valid government ID (like an Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or Passport) to book a vehicle and check into hotels.

What documents are required to rent a vehicle?

You must provide a valid, original Indian Driving License appropriate for the vehicle class you are renting (MCWOG for gearless scooters, MCWG for motorcycles, and LMV for cars). We will also require an original Government ID for verification at the time of handover.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes, we hold a nominal, fully refundable security deposit prior to handing over the keys. This is standard industry practice. The deposit is instantly refunded to your UPI or bank account when the vehicle is returned safely without damage.

Driving & Safety in Meghalaya

Are the roads safe for tourists to drive?

Yes, Meghalaya boasts some of the most well-maintained national highways in Northeast India (especially NH206 to Cherrapunji). However, the terrain is mountainous. You should be comfortable driving on steep inclines, navigating hairpin bends, and dealing with occasional heavy rain or fog.

Is it safe to drive at night?

We highly discourage night driving outside of Shillong city limits. The East Khasi Hills are prone to sudden, incredibly dense fog that can reduce visibility to near zero. Furthermore, many rural mountain roads do not have streetlights. Always aim to reach your destination before sunset (around 5:00 PM).

What happens if the vehicle breaks down?

While our strict maintenance schedule makes breakdowns incredibly rare, we offer 24/7 telephonic support. If you experience a mechanical failure that cannot be easily fixed by a local village mechanic, our rescue team will dispatch a replacement vehicle or arrange immediate assistance.

Vehicle Policies

Is fuel included in the rental price?

No, we operate on a "Dry Lease" system. The vehicle will be handed over with a reserve amount of fuel—just enough to easily reach the nearest petrol pump in Shillong. You are responsible for all fuel expenses during your trip.

Do you provide helmets with two-wheelers?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. Every motorcycle and scooter rental comes with complimentary, sanitized, ISI-certified helmets. We provide two helmets per vehicle if you are traveling with a pillion rider.

Can I take the vehicle out of Meghalaya (e.g., to Assam)?

Our standard rental agreements are meant for travel strictly within Meghalaya so that we can guarantee quick roadside support. If you plan to cross state borders into Assam or other regions, you must discuss this with us on WhatsApp beforehand to get explicit written authorization.
